Joe Vizcaino
We are pleased to announce Joe Vizcaino as our Tasting Room Director and Apprentice to our winemaker Michael Tingley. Joseph came to GBV in the fall of 2008 and encouraged us to utilize his hosting talents by marketing to the local community and creating the YES WE’RE OPEN weekends benefiting our chosen charitable organizations. We thank Joe for his enthusiasm.
Joe was born in 1981 in Whittier, CA. His family was quite mobile, but settled in Temecula, CA in 1997. After graduating High school he moved to Brooklyn, NY to volunteer for a religious organization. In New York he was saturated with the influence of different cultures and cuisines of the world. His passion for good wine and food continued to grow. In 2003 Joe moved back to Temecula to be closer to his family, who manages an organic citrus grove.
Joe began making steps to increase his knowledge in both viticulture and viniculture in 2006. He was employed as a wine server at Leonesse while taking a class at UC Davis class. Mike Rennie, owner of Leonesse and Stage Ranch and Tim Kramer, winemaker for Leonesse both had an open door policy which gave Joe access to the world of wine from growing to manufacturing. Joe also had time to work closely with Stage Ranch key players which enhanced his appreciation for all the hard work that goes into a small bottle of wine. Joe worked his way up to the Host Manager position at Leonesse. For the next two years, he was responsible for wine education of all employees and hosting all tours conducted at Leonesse. Joe was interested in a new opportunity and came to GBV in 2008 asking us if he could grow with us, …step by step. How could we refuse? GBV would like to thank those at Leonesse and Stage ranch for Joe’s valuable education.
In 2007 Joe enrolled in the ASA (American Sommelier Association) to become a wine steward. Joe has completed and is on track to become 2nd level Sommelier.
Joe’s philosphy parallels that of GBV; Good food, good association, and good wine leads to a most memorable experience. Together we will share this philosophy with all who come and enjoy our wonderful wines at Gershon Bachus Vintners
